I wrote about reference management tool Zotero back in 2011 – I thought it was great!  Just for the record (and for Thing 14), I still do.  It has allowed me to manage my billions of references for the Special Collections Handbook and for the RLUK UDC project effectively.

Unlike my subject librarian colleagues, I’m not expected to know about referencing or reference management in any particular detail, so I’ve concentrated on using a system that works for me as a writer.  I do keep an eye on the other possibilities out there.  I think Mendeley is impressive and Cite-u-like is easy to start with, but neither has yet tempted me away from Zotero …
